We are a group of immigrant, undocumented, and allied students of M.E.Ch.A. de Knox
determined to make Knox College a place of sanctuary. When we say sanctuary, we mean a campus where the right of undocumented folks to exist without fear of surveillance and deportation is affirmed and explicitly addressed through the creation and implementation of concrete, protective measures. When we say sanctuary, we mean a space where undocumented folks are listened to when we speak and supported when we work to enact change, rather than dismissed. When we say sanctuary, we mean a place where undocumented folks have the mentorship, resources, and community we need to thrive, to make our way across the graduation stage, and to take action on behalf of ourselves, despite the odds against us. We challenge Knox College to be, not only a place of safety, but a space of action. We challenge Knox to follow its stated commitment to standing up, no matter how dark the historical moment, for every person's right to the full dignity of existence. |
We students of M.E.Ch.A. de Knox are part of a broader, nation-wide movement for sanctuary campuses. For information on the campus sanctuary movement as a whole -- and Knox's place in it -- scroll down.
